Standby script

Beitrag von mackowiakp »

Which one scrip or command line is expressible to set satbox in "ordinary" standby mode? I want to run such script from cron and after time set in "Timer" section of menu, turn it to "deep standby".

DeepStandby is executed by fp_control -e and reads also the timer.

Re: EPG recording problem

Beitrag von mackowiakp »

One more question. Does fp_control -e does not interrupt my recording? For example I set to record TV show from 1 am to 3 am. And I rum (from cron) fp_control -e al 1:30 am. Does recording will be interrupt or will wait until recording ends?
If interrupt, I can write small script waiting to end of recording. But which process (by name) runs during recording? Simply I have to check for existence of such process.

Upss. It should be moved to my EPG related topic...

Should be here right. ;)

"fp_control -e" makes a shutdown like "halt" but fp_control reads the timers. If there are running any programs, recording or whatever -> shutdown. It's nearly the same as "reboot -f". No filesystems are unmountet (data may lost) etc. That's the cause you should not use the commands if not really, really needed.

OK, so hat to set satbox in "ordinary" standby mode, running command from cron?
I set in Neutrino menu, to turn to "deep standby" from "ordinary standby" after 15 min of inactivity. As I understand, recording in "ordinary standby" state of satbox means - "satbox is active".
So everything I need is to turn box in "ordinary" standby mode from cron. Is any dedicated script to do it or command line?

And Why Media Mart wants over 10 Euro for RS232->USB converter, while the same unit, small computer shop wants 3,5 Euro?

The setting with "soft" to "deep" is an internal timer in neutrino. Neutrino ends then normal with Errorlevel 0 and then has the control again the rcS and makes the shutdown with fp_control -e after unmounting the filesystems. You can see this in the one log in the other thread (fp_control says "...good bye..." -> box off). If a recording already running, neutrino does wait if recording ends. If only planned in future, the shutdown runs normally, the reboot for recording must make the frontpanel, fp_control sets the timer (see also the log).

From the log:

So how can I turn satbox to "soft" down at desired time? Us I understand, all other things Neutrino will do via internal timer "soft"->"deep". This timer is programmable from Menu - so thats no problem.

Why a soft after a time? Or do you mean a sleep timer, then set it (main menu).

I mean about such situation I want to have:
- cron at 1:30 turns satbox to "soft" standby
- (as I understand) internal Neutrino timers (set to or example to 10 min) starts to count to switch to "deep" standby
- if no recordings running, satbox turns to "deep" sleep

Why cron? Because I want my satbox to be totally off, everyday at desired time - 1:30 am in my case. But if recording is running, satbox will wait with "deep" off until recording ends. If there is any other possibility than cron - be so kind to tell me.
Of course there is inactivity timer. But it turn off satbox not at preconfigured time but after a period of inactivity. So "off" time is unpredictable (depends on time of last usage of remote controller).

That the wrog way. As I sayd, datas may lost if you make the shutdown with fp_control or other, cron does not wait. Just create a permanent timer for a soft standby.

OK. Cron and fp_control is wrong way. So how can I set permanent timer (not inactivity timer).
Maybe info about it is included in Wiki. But I dont know German language :( so it is difficult for me to find out necessary info.
But - as Cisco stands - "Always use RTFM technology". RTFM stand for "Read The Fu****n Manual". Nice. If You can read one

Just see the timer list menu. You can add your own and set the timer action (see screenshot).
